GATHER ME: A Memoir in Praise of the Books That Saved Me is a wholly original and beautiful debut memoir by Glory Edim, who you might better know as Well-Read Black Girl — she is the force behind the beloved platform that spotlights, celebrates, and advocates for books by Black female authors. In her own book Glory tells us how that intense love for literature began and flourished.
GATHER ME is a love letter to all the many books that helped Glory grow, kept her company, nourished her, comforted her, and allowed her to find her own voice. It is about finding home in the pages of strangers who felt like family, who became her teachers, who taught her resilience and confidence when her home life was less than smooth. And it’s a beauty.
You can pick up your copy of GATHER ME at our partner Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre here, or wherever you get your books.
And meet Glory and me on Instagram on December 4th at 7pm ET for a conversation about this glorious memoir!
